Skill for employment program was
established in Nepal with the loan assistance of Asian
Development Bank (ADB). Implementing agency of this
project is council for technical education and vocation
training (CTEVT) in cooperation with cottage and small
industries, cottage and small industries development
board and department of labor and employment promotion.
Its goal is to reduce poverty by increasing engagement
in wage and international employment, and
self-employment.
Currently, opportunities for income generation in Nepal
are in self-employment and international labor markets
where Nepalese workers are in demand. However, Nepalese
lack the necessary skills to take advantage of these
opportunities, to be more competitive locally, and to
engage in self-employment activities. Access to skills
training is limited, especially for the poor, women,
Dalits (low caste), and disadvantaged, and the quality
of skills training is variable and often not linked to
market needs. The Project aims to improve access to
employment or self-employment for women, socially
excluded Dalits, and disadvantaged groups, as well as
poor socioeconomic groups in general.
For years to come this country’s economic growth will
depend upon economic miracles everywhere. Thanks to
Skill employment program funded by ADB, is working with
local institutes to render the skills required to the
people of Nepal. Other international organizations have
also shown interest in the development of human
resources here in Nepal. Some of the associates who are
working with ADB are DFID, Helevetas, SDC and
international labor organization (ILO). With their
funding’s Associates Synergy Nepal is running vocational
training for Nepalese students across our strategic
disciplines. Our venerable partners are so delighted
with the development impact of skills for employment
that we are further planning these programs for
thousands of students in the coming years. The need of
infrastructure update is due to meet the high demand of
the skill employment programs.
We at Synergy Nepal have earmarked the construction,
hospitality, service and IT industries as strategic and
we believe in providing training with incentives. These
incentives have come in the form of employment
opportunities within and beyond Nepal’s borders. We are
developing policies to ensure employment to those
skilled workers in and out of the country. We have
partners in South-East Asian countries and Middle East,
and even the International labor organization has
assisted us in delivering programs needed to compete in
the International Labor market. We have plans to secure
our place in Australia, Canada, South Korea, Japan and
many other developing countries where the need of
skilled employees are increasing rapidly.
We are grateful to receive ADB’s commendable assistance
and we believe we can further nurture ourselves for the
betterment of the Nepali individuals as a whole.
