Mr.
Sonam W. Sherpa
CEO Associates' Synergy Nepal
Effective
Vocational Training for Nepalese has been the “Talk of
the Policymakers” for years’ in Nepal. If only they
could walk their talk. The private sector has their
limitations. I would not eschew from claiming that most
of their limitations are of their own making.
We at Synergy Nepal believe in providing Training with
Incentives. These incentives have come in the form of
employment opportunities beyond Nepal’s borders. We have
earmarked the Construction, Hospitality, Service and IT
industries as strategic. We work on providing different
level of skill competencies as per the requirement of
employers. Entry level construction skills for workers
in the Middle East to competency level for “Skills
Migration Eligibility” to Australia could be sited as
the two diverse examples.
Recently our work has received due attention from
International Development Agencies based in Nepal. We
consider it a great achievement. Notable are SDC (Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation), DFID
(Department for International Development by the British
Government), ADB (Asian Development Bank) etc. With
their funding we are running free vocational training
for Nepalese students across our strategic disciplines.
Our venerable partners are so enthralled with the
Development impact of “Skills for Employment” that we
are further planning these programs for thousands of
students in the coming years. |

Mr.
Khem Raj Lakai
CEO - GATE College
I
firmly believe that the key to success in today's
international HR placement business particularly in the
hospitality sector largely depends on a tradition of
fairness and a desire to genuinely help both ends;
employers and the employees. Of course, the reputation
of the service providing firm is equally important.
Considering the speedy growth and sophistication of the
industry, quality has become a sheer necessity. Quality
definitely starts with the having the right people at
work with the ability to deliver it and I am very sure
employers are not going to risk it.
I found Associates’ Synergy Nepal having the right team
and holding the right vision. When I met the directors,
highly dedicated and educated people with the
understanding of cross culture business need, I said yes
to the partnership right away.
My own experience in the exciting world of hospitality
began back in 1992, I have gathered over 16 years of
operational and managerial experience including stints
in Europe, North America and Asia. I graduated with a
Hotel Management degree from Khor, Switzerland (Swiss
School of Tourism and Hospitality). I am also a
Certified Hospitality Educator; I received the
certificate in 2006.
While participating in various international job fairs,
and working as free-lance consultant in the middle-east,
I have seen oceans of opportunities for willing Nepalese
who intend to work in this industry.
Presently, our hospitality management college GATE -
Global Academy of Tourism & Hospitality Education offers
both vocational and academic education in international
standard. The Vocational part is an exclusive business
partnership with Associates Synergy Nepal. I am proud to
let you know that GATE has become the first ISO
9001:2000 certified hotel management college in Nepal.
We are also the first Swiss School of Tourism and
Hospitality (www.ssth.ch ) Affiliated College in Nepal.
We are the Third College in the whole of Asia to receive
this affiliation. |
